A bakery site that takes the orders too.
Just In Cakes Co is an independent bakery and coffee shop on Station Road in Kirkham. Sourdough every Friday and Saturday, celebration cakes to order, and a counter full of bakes. I built them a site that sells all of it, and the system the team uses behind the counter.
What I built for Just In Cakes Co: a website with sourdough pre-orders paid online, cake enquiries with a published price guide, gift cards sold online and in the shop, an allergens page, local pages for the towns around Kirkham, and an admin Emma's team runs themselves.
The brief
Emma opened the bakery in 2025. The sourdough sells out, the cake orders come in by message at all hours, and gift vouchers were bits of card in a drawer. She needed a website that looked like the shop feels, and that did the admin rather than adding to it.
What I built
The site opens on the bakery's badge as a pink iced biscuit, floating and catching the light, then gets straight to the bakes with photos from their professional shoot. Underneath, it is a working shop.
- Sourdough pre-orders for Friday and Saturday, paid online through Stripe
- Cake enquiries with the price guide published on the page, so customers know where they stand before they ask
- Gift cards sold online, plus the physical cards sold in the shop, all tracked in one place
- Balances kept on every card: staff take off what was spent at the till, the holder gets an email with what is left, and two tills can never spend the same pounds
- An allergens page for the sourdough, written from Emma's own ingredients list
- Christmas pre-orders, events and an email sign-up with a welcome discount
- Local pages for Wesham, Freckleton, Lytham St Annes and Preston, each with its own angle rather than a copy
Built for Google from the first day
Prices are written into the page itself, not drawn in by JavaScript, so Google can read them. The bakery has full schema with the towns it serves, a clean sitemap and its own Search Console property from launch. Nothing to fix later.
The result
In its first month on Google the site took 22 clicks from 63 impressions. That is a 35 percent click rate at an average position of 4.2, which is excellent for a brand new site. People are already finding it by name, and it is showing near the top for “kirkham bakery” and “cake shop kirkham”.
And the gift cards are no longer in a drawer.
