A carpet shop site that sends people to the showroom.
RedRose Carpets is an independent carpet, flooring and bed shop on Poulton Street in Kirkham, run by Simon and Alison Baker, with their own fitters and over 25 years in the trade. I built them a site that shows everything they sell and gets them found across the Fylde.
What I built for RedRose Carpets: a 33 page website with a page for every product, eleven town pages across the Fylde and Preston, eight buying guides, an interactive carpet chooser, and local SEO set up from the day it went live in October 2026.
The brief
RedRose had no website of its own. The link on their old Yell listing went to a dead page that now shows an unrelated company, so anyone searching for a carpet shop in Kirkham found someone else first. Simon and Alison wanted a site that felt like their showroom, explained the range in plain English, and got people through the door on Poulton Street. They had also just added beds and mattresses, which needed a proper home of their own.
What I built
The homepage opens on a full screen slideshow where each room unrolls across the screen behind a carpet roll, coloured to match the floor. Then it gets straight to the range, and to the way RedRose works: choose in the showroom, free home measure, fixed written quote, their own fitters, old floor taken away.
- A page for each product: carpets, stair carpets and runners, vinyl and LVT, laminate, wood flooring, and beds and mattresses
- A carpet chooser that compares twist, saxony, berber, wool, stain resistant and patterned carpets by feel, best room and how well each one wears
- A fitting service page that walks through a job step by step, from the free measure to the written quote and fitting day
- Eleven town pages, from Wesham next door to Preston, Blackpool, Lytham, Poulton, Cleveleys, Fleetwood and Garstang, each written for that town rather than copied
- Eight buying guides answering what people actually search: LVT or laminate, what carpet costs, the best carpet for stairs, flooring for kitchens, bathrooms and pets, how long carpet lasts and UK bed sizes
- The phone number, opening hours and directions close at hand on every page, because a visit to the showroom is what sells a carpet
- Fast on a phone: plain HTML, self hosted fonts and hardly any JavaScript
Built for Google from the first day
Every page has its own title and description. The shop has full local business schema with its address, opening hours and the towns it covers, plus service schema on the product and town pages and article schema on the guides. Each main page opens with a short, direct answer, so Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT have something clear to quote. Clean addresses, a full sitemap and AI crawlers welcome from launch. Nothing to fix later.
